Menu Monday January 7-13

Since being organized is on my list, I have to get back in the habit of making a menu each week. With a family of 6 and 4 kids going different directions, I need to have dinner planned ahead. Last spring I started weekly cooking, where one day I would cook enough for the whole week. It was super nice to have meals prepared in the freezer that just had to be warmed up. Cheap TV dinners made the way my family liked it. I'm going to start it again, just not this week. Most menu's that I see posted on the web, include a LOT of soups. My family won't eat soup so we usually have big size meals that always include some type of beef and seafood.

My goal is to plan my meal from what I bought last week on sale. That way I will have everything I need to make meals and not have to make "extra" costly trips to the store. So one week I will post all the deals that I found and they next week I will post my menu from my items. With my menu I will post the cost of that meal, of course this will not include milk, eggs, etc but for the most part, items will be listed. So, if you went coupon shopping the week before, your stock will be the same.

I didn't shop much last week because of the holiday and coupons have all expired so we're going off what I have. So if you haven't started couponing yet but it's one of your resolutions, this would be a great week to start. OKC's Sundays paper had 5 inserts and I bought mine today at CVS so they are still available. (Check Homeland too and ALWAYS remember to check your paper for the inserts.) 

Most of my shopping is done at Homeland (HL). I refuse to go to Walmart and Firelake (FL) does not take printed coupons so unless their deal is better than Homeland, I don't shop there much either.

Total so far for the week is $22.32. Which for the month at this rate $89.28, feeding usually a family of 6. One day out of the week, you should cook and eat leftovers or go out. That's my thought anyways. :)

New Year Resolutions

You already know one of my resolutions was to start this blog. So, blog, check. Here are my remaining resolutions: (If I type them, maybe I will remember them and actually do them!)

*     Less stress (yeah right!)

*     Get organized

*     Be a better parent/wife

*     Remodel my house

*     Run at least five 5k’s

*     Find a good home church and stay with it

*     Forgive/forget, don’t judge, and stop trying to change people but just pray for them.

Doesn’t sound too bad, right? Well, let me give you the run down on the first 3, the last 3 will be a breeze. I have 4 kiddo’s (one kiddo doesn’t live here which equals 5 kids), a husband, a cat, and several water animals that live in this house. And not One of them know how to sweep, mop, vacuum or clean in general. I sometimes think my crazy cat Paws can sweep, but he only does it with his paw for like 5 seconds, then he’s like the rest of the family and just wants to eat.

Now, my husband works a lot so I let him slide on housework…most of the time. I do wonder if he strips one part of his outfit in every room, cause I find clothes EVERYWHERE! Still wondering how I’m missing out on that show. ;)

So to start getting organized, control my stress and be a better parent (three in one, multitasking!); I sat down last night and worked on my calendar. This will be the prime controller of all 3. It will help us start to be more organized because everyone’s schedule is right there, it will help my stress level because I bought a big enough calendar to list CHORES for all the kids, and finally will help me be a better parent becomes I’m not stressed out over a dirty house so I’m not trying to kill everyone. Win win for everyone… Ok, me :D

Needless to say not everyone in the house thought my calendar was a good idea nor do they appreciate being a part of my resolutions, but hey, they’ll live. I heard a 10 minute rant on why we have a calendar with chores. As much as my children argue and debate everything, they better be a lawyer or in politics!  And they should always win their debates cause they will argue with a WALL and win!

For now, I’m off to try and get the rest of my house half way clean cause chores really don’t start until Sunday. It will take a few days for the shock to sink in and hopefully less whining cause they have had a few days to “prepare”.

Welcome to my krazy life!

Well, welcome to my krazy life. Yes I realize krazy is spelled wrong, but let's get a few things straight. First, I am a mother of 5 crazy kids, whom I rarely call by the right name, (which seems like a lot of kids, until I meet a mom that has like 7 or 10, then I'm like...OMG!). Second, spelling was not a gift I was blessed with and this is not a college paper so we will let it slide. And third, crazy wasn't available anyway so I had to get creative. 
I decided to make this blog as one of my New Year's resolutions. It is like a law that every new year you make a bunch of resolutions that you usually break within the first 7 days of the year. One of mine this year was to keep a blog of my krazy life. Why you ask? I have seen cute ideas on pinterest about getting index cards and writing down what happen that day with your family so you can look back over the years and remember what was special about that day. Ok, well with 5 kids, it will take 1 index card per kid per day to keep up with all the special and crazy things I want to remember so unless I wanted to buy a filing cabinet instead of an index box, this was the next best thing. Besides, this way maybe my kids will behave more if they thinks hundreds of people will be reading the goofy stuff they do everyday. Hey, it could work. :)
