Grocery List for Feb 1st - 7th

How did you shopping list go last week? Did you save any money?

If you are new here, I bet you are wondering why I am giving you a shopping list with no menu. I am trying to get you a week ahead.  Usually when you make your menu, you make a list of what you want then go buy it. Well, some of the items may not be on sale. My goal is to let you buy what's on sale this week, then I'll have a menu off of what you already have.  If you do it this way, you buy what's on sale (save money), then I'll have a menu to go with you sale items (saves time). Saving time, money, and stress is Resolution 3 & 10.

Here is a printable shopping list of everything you will need for my menu next week. Plus I left a few extra spaces to add your additional items for snacks/breakfast/lunches.

Remember, some of the stuff I am using I bought on sale previously. If you follow my shopping list, you'll have the stock and save money too!

*I have added a bonus.*
I made an excel sheet with a list of prices and a place where you can add your prices too. Then you can see how much your menu actually cost each week. At the end of the month, we will add it up and see how we are doing. I even added items I found on sale or at a cheaper price, since I went to Save-A-Lot and I rarely do. If you want to start fresh, start on Sunday when the month starts new. Then once or week, add what you bought in. At the end of the month, see how much you spent and saved. :)

Mind you this will feed a family of 5. Some of the things on my list you should have or you can substitute for. Like garlic cloves, just use powder.

If it has a coupon, I have included source. Even if you don't have time to clip coupons, this will still save you money.

I already have these items from previous weeks:

Menu Madness Jan 26-Feb 1

This use to be called "Menu Monday" but because I'm starting it technically on Tuesday...it's just madness.

I've been super busy so I haven't had a chance to get a list done. I really do not include much from the Homeland Ad that ends tonight so if you don't get there...it's ok.

I post the links to the original sites if you want to see the source.

Here is your list that you should have on hand just in case you want to make it all on one day. It's so much easier to cook with what you have then to realize what you are out of.

If you have been keeping track of your spending, here is the expense list. Of course I will update mine tomorrow after I go shopping tonight and tomorrow. I have already posted a sales ad for Firelake that starts tomorrow and I will add it to next weeks shopping list that I will get posted by Thursday.

I've made a printable menu for each item so you can download or print it. I will post the recipes tomorrow.

  • Monday
Pizza Hut - Well...I've been busy
  • Tuesday
    Philly Steak Sandwiches
    French Fries
  •  Wednesday
    Little Smokies
    Mac & Cheese
  • Thursday
    Sweet and Sour Chicken
    Fried Rice
    Egg Drop Soup
  • Friday
I didn't get to make this last week
    Cheeseburger soup

    • Saturday
FFYS (Fend for yourself aka leftovers)
    • Sunday
I didn't make these either plus it's Super Bowl Sunday so it works out
      Ribs
      Baked beans
      Potato salad or loaded potato

The cost of this menu for me was $14.85 because I didn't make 2 meals last week and I have a freezer full from before. Yours will depend on the staples you have and the meat. Of course if you find better deals or coupons you can save more.

I hope this helps. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know.

Remember at the end of the month we are going to see our total. We're working on saving money! :)

Firelake Discount Foods Matchup Jan 28th-Feb 3rd

Firelake Discount Foods in Shawnee runs an ad about twice a month. Their regular ad usually starts on the Wednesday before the end of the month and ends on the 10th of the following month. Their other ad falls sometime in between.

Firelake has a rewards card if you purchase the Shurfine items, you receive "Firelake points".  They can be used towards your next purchase. The down fall is you have to have your card. They can not look your phone number up.

Firelake does except coupons but only clipped from a newspaper. They do not except printed coupons. They do not offer rain checks on sale items.

Now, with all that said, here are the sale items starting Wednesday Jan 28th and ending Feb 3rd.  Their ad is called Game Day Deals so that is the only reason I can figure it is ending early.

    CVS Shopping Trip

I decided to stop by CVS last night to see if any bargins were left. When there is a really good ad, it's a good idea to go Sunday morning or Friday Evening <~that's when my CVS truck comes in.

Since my printer has decided to stop, I didn't get the best deal possible but I'm not complaining at all.

I did 4 different transactions. Make sure you stop at the red box to get any available coupons to add with your manufacture coupons. I had several from previous trips.

    First Transaction:

    Pepsi CVS coupon = 24¢
Extracare Bucks from previous purchase = $6.00
Total $1.55 with $3.00 Extracare bucks

    Third Transaction:
    *3 X Speed Stick Deodorant = $12
    B1G1 Free Coupon= $4.00
CVS coupon $2.50 of any $12 deodorant purchase = $2.50

    Updated my shopping list

If you have not been following this year, we are trying to save money on our grocery bill.

I have created a grocery list and expense sheet so we can keep up with our spending. I went ahead and started mine as of last week. You can start it whenever you like.

My goal is to help you save money on your grocery bill without stress. When I first started couponing, I made a list of everything I bought on sale. Then, if it went on sale somewhere else, I would know if it was a good price or not. You do not have to do this but it really help me save money. Now I can pretty much rattle off what is a good price for several items.

I stopped at my Dollar Tree last night and picked up a couple of items.
    • Capri Sun resealable 4 packs  (I bought 3, really great deal)
    • Tortellini (For next week, another great deal)
    • Cheese puffs..(They just looked good)
    • Tomato Sauce and hotdogs (daughter and her slob)
    • Suckers (we eat a lot of candy)
    • Vienna sausages (cause #3 & 4 love them)
I spent $12.00 on items I just "had" to have.

I'm going back to Homeland today to get another Kraft deal. Here are some coupons available.
    • Mayo $1.99 (50¢ SS 1/18)
    • Miracle Whip $1.99 (50¢ coupon or $1/2 SS 1/18)
    • Peanut Butter $1.49 ($1/2 Homeland Book or coupon)
    • Philadelphia Cream Cheese $1.49 (50¢ coupon)
    • Parmesan Cheese $2.99 (75¢ coupon)
If you purchase the items above and the remaining in Jello or Pudding, it would only cost you $8.40. That equals to 84¢ an item.
My printer has lost it's mind so I can't print. My plan is to get the mayo, miracle whip, peanut butter, jello and pudding. It will cost me $8.90. Which 89¢ a piece is still not bad.

If you plan on stopping by CVS today, don't miss the Spend $12 get $6.00 extra bucks deal going with Colgate, Speed Stick, Irish Spring and Soft Soap. I realize this is not part of our grocery bill, but it will save you some money. Each had a coupon in the paper this weekend and you can mix or match deals. There is also a Speed Stick coupon available to print here to go with this deal.

I will let you know the deals I pick up.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! I love to help and will do what ever I can to help.

    Thanks for following.

    Menu Madness Jan 19th-25th

This use to be called "Menu Monday" but because I'm starting it technically on Sunday...it's just madness.

The leftovers on Monday are from you sandwiches you made on Sunday (last weeks menu). If you make enough, you can use the meat in tortillas, nachos or just eat another sandwich.

I realize that I post to have a lot of left overs but we're a busy bunch. It's so much easier to cook extra and have it later.

I post the links to the original sites if you want to see the source.

Here is your list that you should have on hand just in case you want to make it all on one day. It's so much easier to cook with what you have then to realize what you are out of.

I've made a printable menu that has the recipes for each item so you can download or print it.

    • Monday
Left Over's (Fend for yourself aka leftovers)
    • Tuesday
      Catfish
      Shrimp
Rice Pilaf (make a double batch)
      Black eyed peas
      Chili cheese fries
    • Wednesday
      Cheeseburger soup

    • Saturday
FFYS (Fend for yourself aka leftovers)
    • Sunday
      Ribs
      Baked beans
      Potato salad or loaded potato

The cost of this menu for me was $90.66 which included some snacks, meat that I didn't get from last week and extra deals I found. Yours will depend on the staples you have and the meat. Of course if you find better deals or coupons you can save more.

I hope this helps. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know.

Remember at the end of the month we are going to see our total. We're working on saving money! :)
